Lombard International Group, a global leader in insurance-based wealth, estate and succession planning solutions for high-net-worth individuals, families and institutions, today announced a partnership with One Tree Planted, a reforestation non-profit, with the aim of planting 10,000 trees. The initiative is part of One Tree Planted’s Million Tree Challenge, in which 100 companies commit to each planting 10,000 trees.

Stuart Parkinson, Group CEO of Lombard International, commented, “At Lombard International our focus is on making legacy count. In order to provide a sustainable future for our clients’ legacies, and help them protect, preserve and pass on their wealth to future generations, it’s essential that we continue to support efforts to protect the planet and combat climate change.”

Lombard International’s ESG commitments have always placed great importance on Corporate Citizenship and having a positive impact on the communities and environments in which we operate and serve,” said Michael Gordon, Group COO and US CEO, Lombard International. “As such, we are proud and excited to be one of the 100 companies that One Tree Planted has partnered with and look forward to actively involving our team in the Million Tree Challenge.”

The 10,000 trees planted by Lombard International Group will be located in Minnesota’s Chippewa National Forest. Covering over 600,000 acres, Chippewa National Forest contains over 1,000 lakes, numerous wetlands, and a wide variety of wildlife. In addition to the forest’s natural assets, it is of great cultural significance and home to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. Lombard International’s trees will help restore forests damaged by wind, insect infestations and other forms of degradation by focusing on the replanting of Red Pine, Jack Pine, White Pine, White Spruce, Tamarack, Red Oak and other species native to the region.

"It's great to have the business community involved in the Million Tree Challenge to help restore our landscapes and create a healthier climate for future generations. We look forward to planting more trees thanks to Lombard International,” said Diana Chaplin, Canopy Director at One Tree Planted.

This initiative is the latest in an ongoing series of global ESG commitments for Lombard International. In November, the Company announced it had planted 550 trees, one tree for each of its employees across the globe, as part of a reforestation project with Tree Nation in Burgundy, France, in celebration of the Company’s 30-year anniversary. Additionally, Lombard International is currently actively fundraising for a new playground for Community Partnership School, an innovative, independent elementary program in a North Philadelphia Community.
