Jan Carendi

Jan Carendiʼs career spans over 45 years in the global financial services industry. For more than 30 years, he worked at the Swedish insurance company Skandia's International Operations, mainly in the Americas. Mr. Carendi was the founder of the Skandia Long Term Savings division and held positions of either Chairman or CEO at several larger operations. Mr. Carendi and his team founded 17 companies in 13 countries and he received several awards for entrepreneurship including Ernst & Young's “New England Entrepreneur of the Year 1998”. His accomplishments for Skandia have been documented in case studies by Harvard Business School and other universities.
From 2003 to 2008, Mr. Carendi was the first non-German native on the executive board of Allianz SE in Munich. He was CEO of Allianz of Americas and Head of the NAFTA region/ LatAm and succeeded in executing a major turnaround on a large and troubled subsidiary.
Mr. Carendi was MD and Chairman of Global Insurance Origination at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2016, he held a Senior Advisor position with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. From 2010 to 2013 he was a Non-Executive Director on the board of Banco Popular, Madrid. From 2013 through April 2017, Mr. Carendi was the Independent Chairman of Allianz PLC, Dublin. From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Carendi was the Senior Advisor to the Group CEO of Sompo Holdings, Tokyo, and he has been the Senior Advisor to the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Solera Holdings in Texas since 2010. In 2017, Mr. Carendi became Chairman of the board of Dunas Capital Asset Management, Madrid. Mr. Carendi joined the Lombard International Board of Directors in October 2014.
Mr. Carendi earned his Degree in Civil Economics (MBA equivalent) from Gothenburg School of Economics, conducted post-graduate studies at IMI of Geneva and was awarded a PhD (h.c.) from Sacred Heart University of Fairfield, Connecticut.
